This month, Cushen Nutrition Ltd proudly celebrates a remarkable milestone — 10 years of supporting children with cerebral palsy, food allergies, and complex nutritional needs. What began as a small, passionate vision has grown into a trusted and compassionate service that has touched the lives of many families
Over the past decade, our journey has been guided by a simple but powerful mission: to improve health and well-being for every child we support. We’ve seen first-hand how tailored nutrition can transform confidence, comfort, and quality of life — not just for children, but for their families, too. Every small step, every challenge overcome, and every smile has been at the heart of why we do what we do.
How it all began…
The whole journey started in December 2015, from registering with Companies House, and setting up a webpage to sharing updates on social media, and putting together key documents. “At first, there was a lot of hard work with very few clients, but I plugged away, believing in the vision that I would have a successful company in the future,” says Anne Cushen, Registered Dietitian and Director of Cushen Nutrition
Initially, Anne Cushen started out by seeing a variety of clients but soon realised that she wanted to concentrate on children with brain injury and food allergy. Nutrition in these children is often overlooked as these children need highly specific nutritional guidance. Anne wanted to make a real difference to their health and by concentrating on children with specific medical needs, Anne found that this enabled her to become a real expert in her field and her clients flourished.
As demand grew across Yorkshire, Lancashire and beyond, the team at Cushen Nutrition needed to grow. Anne has now been joined by Amy Patel (Registered Dietitian), Leanne Ayrton (Registered Dietitian), Victoria Goddard (Dietetic Assistant and Administrator) and Meghana Devidas (Registered Dietitian). As a result, the team can now help clients further afield such as Northeast Lincolnshire and even into Northumbria!
Looking back, it is wonderful to see how far the service has come. The team at Cushen Nutrition is dedicated, knowledgeable and share the same passion for empowering families. Their expertise, kindness, and commitment have helped shape Cushen Nutrition into what it is today — a service built on trust, empathy, and evidence-based care
Cushen Nutrition work with a number of other teams including Case management teams and associated therapists, professionals in the NHS, amongst others. We have been privileged to work with a number of companies such as “Resurgence Case Management”, “Positive OT and Case management”, “Amazing Rehab” and many others. Working with others enhances the care that families receive. These partnerships allow us to provide truly joined-up care for families.
